Joint majors are designed for students to finish two mayors simultaneously in a shorter time frame than if they had studied them separately. If not joint program exists, a simultaneous program can be designed for the particuar student. Available joint majors are:

Political Science and Economics

In Mexico, politics and the economy having radically changed in the last few years, and they will continue to do so in the future. ITAM's Joint Program between Political Science and Economics will prepare you with what you need to understand and actively participate in this new reality. 

The combination of profiles and skills you will develop will open doors to a wide range of employment opportunities. It also lets you continue your postgraduate studies in the world best institutions.

Graduates of Political Science and Economics have a wide range of employment opportunities, and they are highly valued in the labor market. In the public sector, our graduates are in the Secretariat of Economics, the Secretariat of the Treasury, the Chambers of Representatives, and Senators, the Bank of Mexico, and the National Banking and Securities Commission (among others). In the private sector, our graduates work in consulting firms and companies in areas with high-risk analyses, firms and companies that analyze political and economic sectors, and companies that study public opinion and marketing. They are also present in communications, as well as a range of public, private, and academic think tanks that are run at the best centers for higher education and research in Mexico and around the world.

 

Political Science and International Relations

In a global environment, it is necessary to have professionals who can understand the global phenomena through an analytical and historical lens that examines international structures of power, and their effects on a country's governmental decisions.

This joint mayor will allow you to be a professional leader, capable of actively participating and proposing concrete solutions and strategies surrounding Mexican relations with the world and other topics of international priority.

Some of the places our graduates work at include public Mexican organizations that deal with international relations and represent Mexican interests at international institutions and associations. Our ex-students work in diplomacy, in the Secretariat for Foreign Relations, and at the United Nations, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. They also work in strategic consulting firms that focus on international topics, national and international methods of communication, and in civil society in organizations centered around promoting the peace, community, and sport.

Political Science and Law

12 Semesters. Two degrees.

Law and Political Science are perfect complements to each other. Both majors let the student understand the actors and motivation behind making laws, and their effects on the daily life of citizens. Moreover, students will understand the institutional framework that guarantees the separation of powers within the state, as well as the methods of execution, and systems of accountability within each of them.

This dual mayor graduates position themselves in a privileged manner within judicial, legislative, and executive powers a local, state, and federal levels. Graduates from the Political Science and Law program work in the legislative and judicial public sectors. They also work in judicial departments within public institutions and within those in the private sector. Many graduates also work in organizations within civil society as well as in international institutions.

Simultaneous Degrees


If there is a combination of degrees that isn't specified as a Joint Degree, but you wish to study it, the Director of Political Science Undergraduate Studies can design a plan specifically for you. As with the Joint Mayors, you study two majors, and get two degrees. The difference is that both academic departments must enter an agreement with the student, something with requires coordination beforehand. Examples of Simultaneous Degrees include Political Science and Mathematics, and Political Science and Financial Administration.
